What Kind of editing do you offer?
There are different levels of editing. If you have completed the developmental editing stage that focuses on the bigger picture of your content and you’ve tested your work with beta readers, you may be ready for feedback on the mechanical aspects of writing. I offer a combination of copy editing, line editing, and proofreading to ensure that you are confident and satisfied with your content before publishing.
Finding the right fit.
Before starting a job, to ensure we are the right fit, I offer a free Discovery session to discuss your needs and preferences. If you are interested in working together, I offer sample edits for $.02/word. A sample edit, consisting of 500-1000 words, helps you to see if the editing suggestions and comments resonate before moving forward with the whole project.
What is your style of editing?
First and foremost, it’s imperative that your voice is expressed through your work. I believe editing should correct errors and enhance your gifts, not make you disappear. I use American style editing rules as I am more proficient with them due to the experience I have accumulated over the last 16 years. When editing, I go over the content twice to ensure that I have caught all errors and double checked for consistencies. I am very thorough and often suggest a lot of edits. If you are sensitive to changes in your work, you can take comfort knowing that I am willing to walk through every edit and comment with you to ensure you approve of the changes. It is my goal to help you produce a piece that you are proud to share with the world.
What if English isn’t my first language?
I have had the honor of working with clients who are able to speak and write English but struggle in some areas because it is not their first language. It has been my experience that taking the time to discuss suggested edits has improved their English and writing mechanics. While English is my only language, I work hard to ensure that there are no communication issues or misunderstandings.
What types of content/material do you edit?
As a freelancer, I enjoy editing blog articles, magazine articles, social media posts, emails, books, courses, and written material for projects. I am most interested in genres of self-development and personal growth, new age spirituality, mainstream fiction, children's and young adult, romance and erotica, and non-fiction.
What software do you use?
I currently work on a MacBook that uses Pages rather than Microsoft Word. Therefore, I use Google Docs for all my writing and editing tasks as it is an effective writing tool with easy collaboration, sharing, and accessibility.
What payment types do you accept?
Invoices will be emailed to clients. All rates are in CDN Currency. At this time, I accept payments through PayPal and will also accept e-transfer for clients in Canada.
